Government issued IDs

Here are some recommendations on what to do with lost or stolen government IDs.

1. Issues related to your Social Security Number

If you've encountered some issues related to your SSN, we highly recommend creating an account at ssa.gov/myaccount. With this account, you can:

Report a stolen SSN
Apply to get a replacement social security card
Review your Social Security work history. If you find errors or suspicious activity, contact your local Social Security Administration (SSA) office (which can be found through a Google search).

2. Driver's License

If your driver's license is lost or stolen, we highly recommend searching for your nearest motor vehicles office and planning a visit.

3. Passport

If your passport is lost or stolen, fill out the form at travel.state.gov to make a report and request a new passport.
